Week 7

For many of us, week 7 will be the biggest training week of the year so far. This week the NTC crew will step up our overall volume in more ways than one. First in total training hours for the week. Second, by increasing our L3 interval volume as well. This is the first week of the year I have recommended two interval sessions for our group. By doing this we are increasing our total L3/Threshold on-time for the week as well. Notice how we will now include an interval day 'on-time' recommendation in our weekly examples for both Elite plans and Junior/Youth (athletes 16 and under)

For more info how much interval on-time is right for you check out Threshold On-time 101

Other important things to notice this week:
- We have started putting a % perceived effort and a number of reps recommendation on speed days. For more into on why we periodize our speed training check out the Periodized Speed Training entry. And to see this theory in action take a look at the June Speed video.

- During our skate threshold session we are starting the first two intervals of the day with 1 pole! I really think this is helpful this time of year and this approach helps us make sure we are training a symmetrical skate push early on on the training year. Check out the One Pole Skate video to learn why

- You can also see since we are focusing on increasing training volume this week we have increased our total number of sessions, especially Rollerski sessions. Although we have left the Sunday OD in a non-ski specific mode.
