Week 8

For the NTC training group week 8 will be a slightly easier week with a step down in hours. Regardless of when your easy week falls during the month of June it's important that we at one point or another reduce total hours and let our bodies absorb training.
Given the time of year we still want to maintain steady training which is why our easy weeks in June and July will look very similar to normal training weeks just with reduced hours and a reduced intensity volume. After two big threshold sessions last week this reduced load should have the body feeling good by the weekend.

You will notice that even an easy week can have some intensity. For our NTC group we will be jumping in a local running race on the weekend. No local race to join? No problem. You can substitute this workout with a 'short on-time' L4 session. If athletes reach the weekend and feel like they still need some more recovery I recommend just a light speed session on Saturday instead of intensity. If you are someone who regularly uses an uphill running test or Skierg test at the end of an easy week can be a good time to test and see how you are absorbing the training.

Goals:
- Reduce total training volume (total hours)
- Keep up with speed
- Instead of interval session incorporate specific strength
- Feel rested by the weekend to have a hard race, TT, or short interval
