Let the intensity begin! Or at least a solid block of it. Like we mentioned last week, by counting the two intensity sessions of last weekend and the 3 scheduled this week, we are officially in an intensity block. 5 interval sessions in 10 days!
Blocked training doesn't need to be as extreme as some people think, in fact 5 in 10 days is about as many as I will ever plan together without considerable recovery. This is a common approach this time of year incorporating this extra stress of L4 training followed by some easy volume will give us the Vo2max boost we need going into late fall.
NOTES:
- This week is designed to have a hard/easy flow to it, with one hard interval day followed by one easy recovery day. During intensity blocks like this it's important to prioritize the harder sessions. If you need to cut back or go easier on the easy days please do so!
- See L4B Natural Intervals for more information on how to execute Tuesday's workout.
- We cap off the week with a scheduled time trial. This could be an uphill running test if you have one nearby, or a rollerski 5 - 10K TT.
