Time to step up the intensity! Why? Adding in some solid L4 and race pace training now will give our Vo2Max a little boost. This boost will make for higher quality distance and threshold sessions as we transition from summer to fall training. Is this an intensity block? The answer is 'kind of'. With one hard session at the end of last week and 3 scheduled this week this is a perfect way to stress the body in new ways which can elicit a positive improvement in aerobic capacity.
It's always good to remember that if our weekly goal is to focus on intensity rather than distance training we need to prioritize feeling fresh for those sessions. Keep the easy distance L1 this week and focus on fueling and nutrition to feel your best on interval and time trial days.
