Week 46

Welcome to the final weeks of the race season for most athletes! Our recommended general plans continue to have unique focuses so feel free to follow a plan that fits your spring racing schedule. Across the board training hours are considerably low since we want to prioritize staying sharp for late season competitions while at the same time maintaining fitness and strength.
The Junior, Masters, and Elite plans all incorporate a new maintenance interval session this week. This modification of a 30-second interval set (with increased recovery) will help athletes maintain speed and top end fitness without putting the body under much stress. Our Masters plan shifts its focus to maintaining all the fitness gained this year and transferring it to another training year. Over the next month our content will recommend ways to 'bridge' seasons so we can continue to build fitness from one competition season to the next.  This will include periods of bigger training hours, sustained hard efforts, and even interval training.

On the Junior side we continue with two plans to help guide junior athletes in different areas of the country through their last big competition weekends. Our Elite plan still keeps the pedal down with more racing scheduled later in the month.
