Week 40

Week 40 of the training year is here and so is our ramp-up for the Birkie. If you've been following along with the NTS plans you have set yourself up well for strong late-February races. If you are just joining us, the training block phase and peaking program for the Birkie/ Feb races will work for you too! 

This week the junior plan builds in some recovery while the elite and masters plans link up for the first time this season. The elite and masters plan will have a two-week training block followed by one week of recovery / intensity and a 7-day taper for late February.  In the elite and masters plan we recommend some long, sustained marathon prep intervals this weekend. Use this session to dial in your pacing and feeding. While the majority of the interval training for elites and masters will be in skate technique over the next two weeks, make sure to implement classic days as well.
