We kick off June with a baseline testing week. We use field tests to measure fitness improvements throughout the preparation period. One of the best ways to measure aerobic capacity is with a short uphill running test (see uphill running test protocol). We also recommend a double pole test to measure upper body specific strength (see video). If you are not able to run or double pole uphill email us for substitute recommendations. Not a fan of double pole training or even rollerskiing? Read what Betsy and Bob Youngman have to say about the importance of ski specific training and power. If you need to improve your comfort level and balance on rollerskis check this week's hot feet, big glide video. We also start a 6 week max strength program. (As a reminder Max strength might not be appropriate for all junior skiers, particularly U16 and U18s. Developing juniors should reference the Master strength plan and keep weight medium/heavy)
