Week 8

Time to build into the season if big volume! This means the majority of our weekly training hours will focus on easy distance L1. This week is all about prioritizing easy distance training hours and thinking about skiing with proper technique while also in L1.
After some higher intensity last week this is a great time to build up more L1 hours before some recovery. A general rule in ski training periodization is to build in more volume after weeks of high intensity as long as the majority of our volume training hours are in L1.

Our volume weeks will get bigger and bigger as the summer goes on so this is just the beginning. During volume weeks we will still schedule two strength routines for the Elite and Junior plans but just one for Masters (this is so those strength hours can be allocated to distance training instead). All plans incorporate some controlled L3 earlier in the week and then just lots of easy distance training for the weekend.

NOTES:

- Check out the June L3 interval recommendation. This week we use some one pole skating during the threshold session

- Feel free to substitute the OD run/hike with any rollerskiing. This time of year we also still like to use combi OD's to help prevent injuries. So a rollerski, run combo can be a great idea
